Heritage Village @ Paradigm Mall

Heritage Village is a restaurant that serves penang nyonya cuisine. A glance through the menu shows quite a variety of Penang delights like char Kuey Teow, chee cheong fun, etc.
Three layer tea - Rm4.80
This is actually an east malaysian specialty. The dark bottom layer is actually palm sugar. The overall taste of the tea was nice as one can control the level of sweetness by not stirring too much of the palm sugar. The palm sugar indeed lent a unique taste to the tea. ( 6/10)

Chee Cheong Fun- Rm5.90
Rice rolls smothered in prawn paste and chilli sauce. Penang chee cheong fun has always been my favourite and the one I had at this place was alright except for the chilli sauce which I found to be too sweet for my liking and my other complaint is that I would prefer my rice rolls to be rolled up and not like the ones I had here . Anyway, the taste is still alright despite these minor hitches. ( 6.5/10)

Char Kuey Teow- Rm12.90
The char Kuey Teow here smells good and comes in big servings too.. It tasted like Penang char Kuey Teow alright but lacking in crucial ingredients like chives ,Cockles , chinese sausages and fried lard , of course! The Kuey Teow was fried to near perfection but it could do with a bit more soya sauce.
( 6.5/10).

Rojak Buah -Rm9.90
I have always found kl fruit rojak lacking in one key ingredient - hea ko@prawn paste. The rojak here is no exception. The sauce is slightly on the sweet side, does contain heako but not enough to bring out the real taste of Penang rojak. Maybe, the  overpowering smell of the heako puts some people off and therefore, the supposedly key ingredient is used sparingly in KL. The medley of fruits consists of mainly jicama beans@ sengkuang, cucumber, guava and mangoes. Being a penangite, I was hoping for some cuttlefish and beancurd too. But, this is KL , dear.
Durian ABC with ice-cream- Rm10.90
There are loads of ingredients in this ABC; a dollop of ice- cream, 4 attap chees ( no kidding! They  actually served attap chee instead of nata decoco , kidney beans, creamed corn, strands of cendols, peanuts, grass jelly, raisins and durian .  The ABC was nice but not addictive.  ( 7/10)
Pie Tee- Rm9.90
Pie tee @top hats is a penang nyonya specialty. To eat this , one needs to put the filling of stir- fried jicama beans, carrots and dried prawns in the fried Pietee shells  add in some chilli garlic sauce and then pop the whole thing into the mouth. Yummy ( 7/10)

Tapas at Estilo Spanish Tapas Bar and Charcoal Grill - Publika

Our hunt for good tapas brought us to Estilo @ Publika. I am always a sucker for something new.

Cheese sauce over baked mashed potatoes. The creamy melted cheese and  the buttery mashed potatoes complemented one another
Endive and walnut salad - this is the first time I have ever tasted endive. The endive on its own has a slightly bitter aftertaste but when teamed the walnut and the chocolate sauce, the taste iwas divine,

Escargots on potato croquettes. The escargots ( without shells ) were creamy and a good combination to the crispy potato croquette beds that they lay on.
Calamares rellenos - stuffed squids cooked in slightly spicy tomato sauce I actually don't quite like any dish cooked in tomato sauce, so I wasn't too keen when hubby ordered this dish of tapas. " ok ,lor , you finish all by yourself then" . So the usual me would just take a small bite and give my two cents , when it comes to dishes that are not of my interest. However, I wasn't proven wrong this time. The slightly spicy twist to the dish was indeed very appetising and I ended up helping hubby to polish off
)
Champinones -Mushrooms in creamy white wine sauce. This is an excellent dish where the taste of mushrooms is enhanced by the white wine sauce. The creaminess of the sauce is just nice, none too cloying. An enjoyable dish, albeit sinful though. Will definitely return for more
